A Time for Reflection and Rose Becomes a Writer

As their farm continued to thrive, Laura and Almanzo were able to appreciate more comfort than they'd ever experienced.  This photo of their living room shows how proud they must have been.  It also gives you a sense of what would become a great house for writing!

 

Meanwhile daughter Rose was traveling and working as a telegraph operator Kansas City.  She would eventually move West and begin working for a newspaper as a writer.  That's right - Laura's daughter became a popular writer well before Laura even wrote her first article or story!

Laura's first daughter Rose was thriving in Kansas City, and we are lucky to have this picture from her 1906 visit to see her.  It is such a stark contrast to the photos from Laura's youth.
