There was a period of total elegance and glamour among stage and film actresses of the early 1900s.  We wanted to showcase their delicate - and at times overwhelming - beauty and style.  The following ten photos capture some of the most beautiful women of the Edwardian era...

Billie Burke (1884 - 1970)

Mary William Ethelbert Appleton "Billie" Burke was an American actress famous for her role as Glinda the Good Witch of the North in The Wizard of Oz.

Camille Clifford (1885 - 1971)

The elegant Ms. Clifford was known as the classic "Gibson Girl" for her hourglass figure and towering hair.  With the corseting, she somehow maintained an 18 inch waist!

Gladys Cooper (1888-1971)

Dame Gladys Constance Cooper was an English actress whose career spanned nearly seventy years in films and on stage.  Her long career would morph from pantomime to silent films and from there, to managing a major theater.

Ms. Clayton was a star of the silent film era, debuting in 1909.  She would go on to be a career actress with over 180 credits to her name.

Maude Fealy (1883 - 1971)

Ms. Fealy was a prominent stage actress who toured early in life with her mother, who was also an actress.  She would evolve in to silent films and also go on to star in some of the "talkies" as well.

Ms. Doro started as an American stage actress and gained some early fame in the silent films at the turn of the century.

Ethel Warwick (1882 - 1951)

Ms. Warwick was a famous stage actress known for her roles in The Bigamist, The Magistrate, and Bachelor's Baby.  During her teenage years, she was also one of the first - ahem - models to pose without clothes for photographers.

Aida Overton Walker (1880 - 1914)

Ms. Walker was a well-known vaudeville performer who traveled extensively and performed with many groups, among them Black Patti's Troubadours.
