We LOVE taking walks down memory lane, and so we wanted to put together some of our favorite photos from the 1950's and early 1960's.  How many of these do YOU remember?

#1: Ben Franklin Five and Dime Stores: Let's be honest - these stores were simply awesome!!! You may have had Woolworths in your town instead of the Ben Franklin, or perhaps one of the local variations that had just about everything. We loved going on Sundays! Hit "Next Photo" for the next one...

#2: Push Button Car Radios. Yep, you may have forgotten this one, right?! I think we had one of these in our car until the early 1980s! Sometimes nowadays it feels like there are too many options - we kind of miss the days when we had our five pre-set stations and that was it!

#3: Saying the Pledge of Allegiance Every Morning. This really inspired patriotism back in the day, and we sure do miss it. It let us know that the day had started and gave us a good reminder of the privilege it was to be there in school.

#4: Passing Notes in Class. We were very good at folding the notes so small that the teacher could barely notice. Well, we did occasionally get caught, but that was part of the fun. No text messaging back then!

#5: Long Sunday Drives. This photo captures it all - the excitement of heading out for a long Sunday drive. Sometimes we'd go visit friends or family, but mainly we'd just get in the car and drive around town and the country and enjoy time together.

#6: The Local Fair Was a BIG Deal! This late 1940s photo shows a perfect picture of what it was like at the local fair. We'd get as dressed up as we could afford and prepare to be marveled by the rides and games and food! Sometimes we couldn't afford much, but just going was fun!

#7: Transistor Radios! Our Dad was never without his. He'd mow the lawn with the ball game on, and then after he was done, we'd borrow it and sit on the porch with our friends and take in the tunes!

#8: Skates That Had Keys! Do you remember the song? This one brings back so many great memories!

#9: Standing on the Swings. It's a miracle all of us lived through some of the things we did as kids! One of the best things was standing on the swings and going as high as we could. Sure, we got some scratches and cuts sometimes, but also smiled and loved every minute of it.

#10: Hula Hooping Frenzy. We love this 1957 photo that captures just how crazy we all were for hula hooping for awhile!

#11: Television Sign-Off Messages. Now this one you may have forgotten about, but remember it now?! After the shows were off, there weren't re-runs or infomercials, but just this!

#12: Defrosting the Freezer. We almost forgot about this one! What a day it was when we had to let the whole thing de-frost. Do you remember?

#13: Roller Girls at the Diner. Do you remember when the local drive-ins had girls who would bring your food out on skates? The A&W was our favorite in our town, and then the Parkette came in after that. We take the kids to Sonic these days to give them a taste of the old days, but it'll never be like it was in the 1950s!

#14:  Playing ball in the streets!

#15:  If it wasn't the Ben Franklin, we were heading out to the A&P!

#16:  Who remembers going to the Drive-In?! We love this photo of a packed lot in South Bend, Indiana in the 1950's! What movies do you remember seeing at the Drive-In?

#17:  Front Seats were more like couches than seats!

#18:  Getting Down at the Sock Hop!

#19:  Everyone gathering around the TV at night to enjoy our favorite shows, 1958

#20:  Grandma always let us eat off the beaters, and you know what, we survived!

#21:  When JFK and Jackie Were Beautiful, Happy, and Were Going to Save the Country, 1953

#22:  $0.20 Gas and stations that sold just about everything and could fix just about everything!
